ARTIST DEMONSTRATIONS

Two-hour lecture demonstrations for the engaged adult audience. In-depth exploration of an historical technique related to painting, gilding or manuscript illumination. Lecture in a “Show and Tell” format exhibiting the raw materials, prepared pigments, and supplies with demonstration of the preparation of materials and use in the prescribed historical techniques. Includes pigment preparation, paint making, historical gilding techniques, and painting technique.

 

LECTURES

Museum Lectures, one to two hours in length, on the topic of historical painting and illumination techniques from the perspective of identification, preparation, and use of artist’s materials.

 

WORKSHOPS

In studio workshops of one- or two-day duration for the artistically experienced adult participant. Topics including Manuscript Illumination, Egg Tempera painting, Watergilding, Gilding on Parchment, Fresco, and Silverpoint. Workshops utilize historically accurate materials including artists grade pigments, binders, hand-made parchments and gold leaf.
